DAZN set to join Sky Sports in Premier League TV rights war with huge £300m bid

DAZN is set to join the Premier League TV rights battle as they wade in with a £300million bid.

Reports suggest the Premier League are looking to offer an extended fifth package of games, which will feature midweek matches and Sunday clashes involving sides in the Europa League.

Amazon Prime currently hold the rights to the package – which allows them to broadcast 60 games over the Christmas period. However, with the Premier League announcing all Sunday games will be televised from the 2025-26 season, DAZN could bid for the package.

For viewers in the UK, coverage of KSI vs Tommy Fury will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN and DAZN PPV. The event will be available around the world on DAZN and on DAZN PPV in the UK

Devices supported by DAZN include Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Amazon Fire Tablet, Android Phone & Tablet, iPhone & iPad, Android TV, LG, Smart TV, Panasonic Smart TV, Samsung Smart TV, Sony Smart TV, SmartCast, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Roku.

£19.99

According to the Daily Mail, DAZN could bid up to £300million for the package. The report suggest they are hopeful of landing the tranche of games thanks to the price hike, with Amazon originally purchasing it at a discounted price.

The primetime Saturday and Sunday packages are expected to be retained by Sky Sports and TNT Sport, but Amazon might consider their stance on their current package due to the upped price.

The company’s chief financial officer, Darren Waterman, said earlier this year: "The Premier League is the next top, top right to come to the market and we will definitely look at it, we have to.

"It’s a great opportunity. It’s not until 2025 so it’s a fair way off but yes, we’ll look at it."

And Waterman added DAZN could help making every game simultaneously available, something they've already achieved with the NFL: 'We have the technology to do it, they’ve seen what we can do with the NFL game pass which makes every game available to fans.

"We’re uniquely placed in that we’re everywhere so we could really help the Premier League in, say, South East Asia or South America."
