The Premier League\u2019s new TV deal does not include Amazon Prime, or the likes of Netflix and Disney+ <\/p>\n
I<\/span>t\u2019s like getting your team from Marks and Spencer \u2013 it\u2019s a big more upmarket than going to Aldi, but it\u2019s not like going to The Ritz. It\u2019s inoffensive and affordable. It\u2019s mid-territory.\u201d <\/p>\n
That\u2019s the summation of Professor Simon Chadwick, Professor of Sport and Geopolitical Economy at Paris\u2019 SKEMA Business School, when asked to describe the latest TV rights deal between the Premier League, Sky TV and TNT Sports \u2013 a deal worth \u00a36.7bn over four years.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a deal that doesn\u2019t include the likes of Amazon or Netflix, and one which very much illustrates the desire of the world\u2019s richest league to stick steadfastly to the tried and tested in troubled economic times. <\/p>\n
