Khamzat Chimaev has revealed he will have to undergo surgery on his right hand, but does not plan on being sidelined for long.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The undefeated UFC star recently came through against Kamaru Usman, winning by decision at UFC 294 but tearing a ligament in his hand in the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While addressing fans on a live stream, the Chechen-born Swede said: ‘I\u2019m going to do surgery, [an] operation in one, two weeks, after that [I\u2019ll] do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.<\/p>\n
Like many fighters, Chimaev is desperate to feature on next year’s historic UFC 300 card, which is expected to take place in April.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When asked about it, he said: ‘Tell Dana White, make that happen.’<\/p>\n

Chimaev was originally supposed to face Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi before the Brazilian withdrew due to an infected elbow.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Usman took the fight on short notice, moving up to middleweight to face the fearsome wrestler.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After Chimaev dominated the first round and threatened with submissions, it became a more even affair with some fans claiming ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ would have won if the fight was five rounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That said, Chimaev came through with another victory and put his name in the frame among the top contenders for a title shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dricus du Plessis will have the next chance at challenging for Sean Strickland’s belt on January 21 at UFC 297.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So it would be a swift turnaround for either man to face Chimaev at UFC 300, if indeed that is the plan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Borz’ has a number of options, however, providing he can cut down to welterweight again having missed the mark badly last year prior to his scheduled fight with Nate Diaz.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the end he defeated Kevin Holland with ease before backing it up with his win over Usman.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
