Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been called out for “looking for a foul” on several occasions during the Reds’ frantic 4-3 win over Fulham on Sunday. The Uruguayan did not score or get an assist despite his side bagging four times, instead he was criticised for diving at Anfield by one of the club’s former players.

Ex-Reds defender Stephen Warnock felt that Nunez was too quick to go to ground in an attempt to win a free-kick at times, insisting that such behaviour has no place in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He called the referee to take action and show Nunez a yellow card, but the striker remained unpunished and played a crucial role in Liverpool’s third and equalising goal before Mohamed Salah teed up Wataru Endo to strike from range.

He has made the centre-forward spot his own this season, fighting off competition from Cody Gakpo and the now-injured Diogo Jota, but Warnock has made it clear that such actions have no place in the game in his eyes.

Despite picking up the three points in dramatic fashion it was a frustrating day for Nunez personally, having hit the bar and he will feel that he should have been among the goals against a leaky Fulham defence.
