<\/p>\nRoy Keane insisted that he had no extra close bond with Sir Alex Ferguson during his time at Manchester United.<\/p>\n
The former Manchester United was on punditry duty ahead of Manchester City's clash against Tottenham on Sunday (December 3) when he was asked by Sky Sports host David Jones on the importance of a player's relationship with his manager.<\/p>\n
The 52-year-old admitted in his experience, he never believed in being friendly with the managers he's had in his career. "That was never for me. I never believed in being 'pally' or close to any of the managers I worked with," Keane said.<\/p>\n

Jones than said that is widely thought that a close relationship between Keane and Ferguson had existed during the successful years they enjoyed at Man United but the Irishman was quick to shut down the rumours.<\/p>\n
"[I] never had a bond there, absolutely not," he added. "People like to believe that we had a good relationship, I probably had two or three private conversations with the manager during my time at the club." <\/p>\n
Keane's complicated relationship with his former manager goes back to departure from the club in 2005 when the pair butted heads as Keane was unhappy with a villa he and his family stayed at during a summer camp in Portugal.<\/p>\n

Following the end of his playing days, Keane has been a vocal critic of Ferguson and his fear 'losing control' of players at Man United as they got older. On the Stick to Football podcast, by Sky Bet, the former captain said: "Power and control \u2013 that\u2019s how he [Sir Alex Ferguson] managed. You [David Beckham] were getting older.<\/p>\n
