A historical milestone full of meaning that will mark a before and after in Spanish women&#8217;s football, inspiring many women with a triumph of incalculable value. For this reason, we want to regret and express our solidarity with the players who have seen their success tarnished.<\/p>\n<p>The statement then went onto criticise Rubiales, before suggesting that the team will focus on their games ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Luis de la Fuente&#8217;s side will travel to Georgia to play their seventh qualifying game, before facing Cyprus back at home next Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We want to reject what we consider unacceptable behavior on the part of Mr. Rubiales, who has not lived up to the institution he represents,&#8217; the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We place ourselves firmly and clearly on the side of the values \u200b\u200bthat sport represents. We would like that, from now on, we could focus on sporting issues given the relevance of the challenges that lie ahead.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>There has been controversy surrounding\u00a0de la Fuente himself, with the 62-year-old apologising for applauding Rubiales during a speech saying he wouldn&#8217;t resign.<\/p>\n<p>De la Fuente stated that he believed that Rubiales was going to resign at the meeting, but applauded the under-fire boss&#8217; words as he sat next to women&#8217;s manager Jorge Vilda, who could also be sacked from his role.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/19\/75051131-12479817-image-a-6_1693850942236.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s men&#8217;s manager\u00a0Luis de la Fuente has apologised for clapping Rubiales&#8217; speech saying he won&#8217;t resign<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/19\/75051113-12479817-image-a-7_1693850945649.jpg\" height=\"343\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The 62-year-old said his actions were &#8216;unjustifiable&#8217; and &#8216;he couldn&#8217;t control&#8217; his emotions<\/p>\n<p>As reported by Marca, De la Fuente said: &#8216;What I did is unjustifiable. What I&#8217;m trying to expose is the context. I was overwhelmed, I didn&#8217;t know how to live up to it and I couldn&#8217;t control my emotions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;When you later reflect and see yourself on cameras&#8230; I don&#8217;t recognize myself. Inside the forest one sees nothing but branches and when one separates from the forest one sees the true situation.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Rubiales, meanwhile, has claimed he is the &#8216;victim of a political and media lynching&#8217; who is actually &#8216;advancing feminism&#8217; as he continues to fight attempts to suspend him.<\/p>\n<p>FIFA has already handed Rubiales a 90-day ban and Mail Sport revealed the governing body is pushing for a 15-year ban from all football.<\/p>\n<p>In Spain, the Sports Administrative Tribunal (TAD) has opened a case against the 46-year-old, but it is for &#8216;serious&#8217;, rather than &#8216;very serious&#8217; misconduct.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/19\/75051261-12479817-image-a-5_1693850935318.jpg\" height=\"414\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Rubiales has claimed that he was &#8216;advancing the feminist cause&#8217; and branded himself &#8216;the victim of\u00a0an unprecedented political and media lynching&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>This means the National Sports Council (CSD) is unable to suspend Rubiales while the investigation is ongoing, but acting Sports and Culture Minister Miquel Iceta called on Friday for the tribunal to suspend the president for &#8216;abusing his authority&#8217; and damaging the sport&#8217;s image.<\/p>\n<p>Within minutes of Iceta&#8217;s claims, Rubiales hit back with an explosive statement that read: &#8216;I am the victim of an unprecedented political and media lynching.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have been deliberately sidelined. But I have presented all the relevant images that show the facts.
