It's been a tough season for Arsenal so far – but Gunners supporters were given a reminder of their Invincibles heyday on Saturday night.

Mikel Arteta's side took on relegation-threatened West Brom at The Hawthorns and were in sensational form in the first half, scoring two well-worked goals.

Kieran Tierney opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a stunning right-footed effort but it was the second goal which had Arsenal fans licking their lips.

The visitors made it 2-0 five minutes later when Bukayo Saka finished off a flowing move involving him, Emile Smith Rowe and Alexandre Lacazette.

Smith Rowe ran onto Lacazette's pass and crossed for the unmarked Saka to tap in, with Arsenal fans quick to hail 19-year-old starlet.

And supporters also claimed Saka's well-worked goal reminded them of their memorable Invincible era under Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman memorably guided the Gunners to a Premier League title triumph in 2003-04 in which they went the season without a defeat in the league.

At the time, the north Londoners were widely regarded as the best team in England and played some of the best attacking football seen on these shores.

And fans were quick to make comparisons, with one saying: "It's like watching us back in 03/04."

Another added: "This is genuinely the football we have been waiting to see."

"Arsene will be so proud of that goal," another fan added.

Indeed, it was a magnificent performance from Arsenal in the first half, as they looked to get the season up and running after suffering eight defeats in the top flight.

Kieran Tierney opened the scoring after 23 minutes for Arsenal.

The left-back beat Darnell Furlong twice before cutting in and curling high past Sam Johnstone from 15 yards.

Saka doubled the lead and the Gunners remained on track for a vital three points, with the Gunners dominant against Sam Allardyce's struggling side.

And they made it 3-0 in the second half when Lacazette fired home with 30 minutes remaining, before the Frenchman doubled his tally with another close-range effort.
