Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to do any serious business during the January transfer window, despite Jurgen Klopp currently dealing with numerous first-team injuries. Liverpool were tipped to go after a new centre-back in January, but are now set to have a low-key window.

Liverpool are set to have a quiet January transfer window, according to reports.

The Premier League leaders are still without their two best centre-backs, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sidelined for the foreseeable future.

The pair are both set to miss the majority of the rest of the season, with both suffering from different knee problems.

Klopp has been forced to give significant first-team minutes to youngster Rhys Williams and previously-unwanted Nat Phillips.

The Reds had been tipped to go after a new centre-back in the January window, with Dayot Upamecano, Ozan Kabak and Sven Botman all linked.

However, it has now emerged that they won’t be making any significant first-team signings in January.

The Liverpool Echo reports Liverpool boss Klopp is content with his options at the back, and won’t rush into any deals until the end of the season.

Outgoings are also unlikely, despite reports linking numerous players with moves away.

Divock Origi had been tipped to depart in the current window, with the Belgian striker struggling to break into the first team.

He has only featured three times in the Premier League this season – all from the bench.

Wolves were linked with a move, but reports suggest Liverpool told them they’d have to fork out £20million in order for them to let the 25-year-old go.

The same report from the Echo claims Liverpool haven’t received any indication that Origi – or any of their other players for that matter – wants to leave.

Xherdan Shaqiri has also struggled for minutes this season – partly through injury – and has therefore been linked with a move away.

Liverpool are reportedly open to selling him, though his contract still runs until 2023.

However, they won’t be offloading him in January, and will hold onto him until the summer at least.

Diogo Jota’s recent injury has provided him with a potential route into the side, and Klopp is said to be unwilling to offload Shaqiri due to his role as a solid backup.
