Khabib Nurmagomedov confirms father is in 'critical condition' with coronavirus
Khabib Nurmagomedov has confirmed reports his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is in hospital after contracting coronavirus in Russia.
The UFC lightweight champion’s father, who is also his coach, had heart surgery last year and Nurmagomedov addressed his fans on Instagram.
Nurmagomedov revealed more than 20 people in his family were suffering from coronavirus and that many of them had died.
‘In my personal case, I’ve had more than 20 people sick from my family,’ Nurmagomedov said.
‘More than 20 people were lying in the ICUs. And many of them are no longer among us.

‘Many acquaintances have died, many parents of my relatives. Everybody is having a hard time dealing with it.
‘There is a lot written on the internet about my father. My father, right now, is located in a hospital.
‘He is in critical condition as a result of this virus. It impacted his heart because last year he had a surgery there, and right now, they did another surgery.
‘He is in a very difficult situation, very difficult. We are asking Allah that he returns him to us.’
A host of MMA stars had offered their support to Nurmagomedov, including his UFC rivals Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson.
Russia has almost 300,000 cases of coronavirus with 2,722 reported deaths.
Nurmagomedov is native to Dagestan and president Vladimir Putin admitted the region is in serious danger after local officials sounded the alarm about their rising death toll.
‘The situation in the Republic of Dagestan is complicated and of course calls for additional and urgent measures,’ Putin said.
‘I want you to know and be assured all of Russia will be with Dagestan now.’
