Jorge Masvidal makes BMF title fight demand to Conor McGregor ahead of UFC 246

Jorge Masvidal has sent Conor McGregor a stern message ahead of his return to the Octagon. McGregor, the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion, will return to the cage for the first time in over 15 months early on Sunday morning in the main event of UFC 246.

The Irishman will be welcomed back to the cage by fellow fan favourite and former lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone – whom he’ll meet in a welterweight match-up.

McGregor’s return to the 170lb division – which he last graced in August 2016 – could potentially open the door for several big fights.

Should he get the better of Cerrone, the biggest fight available to him would undoubtedly be a clash against Masvidal – the owner of the ‘Baddest Motherf****r in the Game’ belt.

Masvidal has already expressed his willingness to be the second opponent of McGregor’s 2020 season, insisting he’d gladly f**k up the former lightweight champion.

You’ve got to give me something if I end your a**

And ahead of the Dubliner’s clash with Cerrone, ‘Gamebred’ has warned ‘The Notorious’ he’d have to put up some collateral if wants to challenge him for the BMF title.

“You guys know I’m a family man. So if somebody wants this one right here? You got to put something up worth collateral. Something that makes me go, ‘Yeah, that makes it worth me putting this up.’

“I’m not just going to put this up for somebody to win and me to not win nothing after I baptise them.

“You’ve got to give me something if I end your a**.

He added: “It could be financial, it could be many a thing. Maybe certain individuals don’t ever get to speak or do an interview again if I whoop their a** the right way. S**t like that.

“I work for the community. So I know for a lot of us, certain people shouldn’t be talking any more.”

Should Masvidal land a fight with McGregor, he reckons it’ll be one of the biggest in UFC history.

“If me and Conor go into the Octagon; what happens is it’s one of the biggest fights in history. Just by math. Proven by what Conor’s been doing, the last couple of fights I’ve had, the engagement, the pay-per-views. I’ve broke records with ESPN.

“So obviously, it’s a formula for success.”

American Top Team product Masvidal admits he’d prefer to fight McGregor than challenge Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title, saying: “Somebody will always have the belt at 170lbs.

“It doesn’t really matter if it’s Kamaru or not. Conor is a bigger fight.

“Now if Conor doesn’t do his job or Conor doesn’t want to fight after this fight, then we’re going to take Usman’s head off.”
