Roger Federer fans SLAM Uniqlo as French Open kit ‘leaked’

Supporters have been waiting four years for Federer to finally make his long-awaited return to Roland Garros.

They are hoping to see the 37-year-old battle Rafael Nadal on the famous red dirt for one last time before he retires.

But Federer’s apparent new attire has done the rounds on social media after being put on sale in America.

And fans are not happy with the brown and cream uniform the 20-time Grand Slam winner may be made to wear.

“All I’m saying is if I was Roger I’d be taking that as a personal insult,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

And another added: “Why does Uniqlo hate Federer?”

A further user commented: “It’s hideous. It’s going to look better if you grind some dirt into it, then wash it.”

Another fan said: “Paris is a very fashionable city, or so they say.”

Some supporters were able to draw small positives from the kit.

“This is better style wise but the ugliest of colours,” they wrote.

Meanwhile, others struggled to believe the leaked images were real.

Federer swapped long-term sponsors Nike for Uniqlo last summer and fans are still not fully won over by the Japanese manufacturer.

“What the heck??? This can’t be real, it’s horrible. Roger had much, much better kit choices with Nike,” one person noted.

And another added: “Best be a joke. Maybe a belated April Fool’s joke or something.”

Before the French Open commences, Federer will compete at the Italian Open this week.

He will open his campaign in Rome against either Frances Tiafoe or Joao Sousa tomorrow afternoon.
