When Arsenal want to announce new Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal as talks go on

Arsenal are hoping to announce Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s new contract before their Premier League curtain raiser away at Fulham on September 12.

Aubameyang, 31, has just 10 months remaining on his current Gunners deal, meaning he would be eligible to negotiate a free move abroad at the turn of the year.

However, The Mirror claim Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with their star striker over a new three-year contract worth £250,000 per week.

The news will come as a major relief to Mikel Arteta, who faced the daunting prospect of losing Aubameyang either in this summer window or the next one.

Arsenal fans are equally desperate for the Gabon international’s new deal to be confirmed, and the club hope to do exactly that before they kick off the 2020/21 Premier League season in undertwo weeks’ time.

Arteta will get his first full season as Gunners manager underway against newly-promoted Fulham on September 12, with his side set to make the short trip across London to the Craven Cottage.

When that opening fixture takes place, the Spaniard expects to have Aubameyang and two other first team players tied down to new contracts.

He is also keen to fend off interest from Wolves in academy graduate Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who recently celebrated his 23rd birthday with his first senior England call-up.

Maitland-Niles, who still has three years remaining on his current deal, is not one of Arsenal’s top earners.

However, if he chooses to stay the youngster could be in line for a more lucrative extension.

Another star being lined up for a new contract at the Emirates is Emiliano Martinez, who impressed while filling in for injured No.1 goalkeeper Bernd Leno at the end of last season.
