Tottenham transfer shortlist: Four players Daniel Levy could sign for Jose Mourinho
Tottenham: Defeat to Marine would be huge sporting upset
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is keen to add to his squad this month – even if he is not expecting any incomings. Spurs are fourth in the Premier League table and harbour hopes of perhaps challenging for their first top-flight title since 1961.
When asked about the potential of new signings, Mourinho said last week: “I’m not expecting, no. Times are not easy. The club made a big effort in the summer to try and build a good squad.
“Honestly, if something good happened for us, it would be a big surprise for me.”
But Tottenham have still been linked with a host of players despite Mourinho’s lack of confidence over new signings.
And Express Sport have picked four players who could potentially pull on a Spurs shirt in this window.

Lille defender Botman is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool have reportedly shown interest in the Dutchman, who only left Ajax last summer.
But transfer expert Duncan Castles now claims Mourinho is keen on the 20-year-old.
Mourinho wants to sign a left-footed centre-back and Botman would fit the bill.

RB Leipzig star Sabitzer is a top target for Mourinho, according to The Athletic.
The Austria international has been influential in Leipzig’s rise to becoming Bundesliga title contenders.
However, Leipzig’s current position in the table could make a January move to Spurs unlikely.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side are second behind Bayern Munich and won’t want to lose the 26-year-old this month.
Mourinho wanted to sign Perisic when he was Manchester United boss and reports say he is again interested in the Croatian.
Foot Mercato claims that discussions are underway regarding a six-month loan to Tottenham for the 31-year-old.
Perisic has made nine Serie A starts for Inter Milan this season, scoring one goal.
His contract at the San Siro expires in the summer of 2022.
Militao is the second defender on the list, so it is clear that is an area of the pitch Mourinho wants to strengthen.
The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Porto in 2019 for a fee of £43.5million.
However, the 22-year-old has made just one La Liga start so far this season
And Spanish outlet AS say Tottenham are interested in Militao, who can also operate at right-back.
