Chelsea are yet to confirm Romelu Lukaku’s shirt number and the Belgian could potentially now be in line to take Tammy Abraham’s No 9 shirt at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian completed his £97.5million mega-money switch back to west London yesterday after the European champions struck a club-record deal with Inter Milan last weekend.
Lukaku won’t be available for the club’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace tomorrow though following his arrival on Wednesday night.
Instead, he is likely to make his second Blues debut next Sunday when Thomas Tuchel’s side travel to Arsenal.
Yet while the club finally unveiled Lukaku as a Chelsea player against yesterday, there has still been no official confirmation of what squad number he will wear.
However, Chelsea have since announced multiple changes to their first-team squad when squad numbers are concerned for the upcoming season

The striker was set to meet with Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto in London today.
Chelsea have accepted an initial loan offer which includes a £34million obligation to buy Abraham but the player is unconvinced by a move abroad.
Jose Mourinho is said to have called the player several times in a bid to convince him to join his revolution in Rome.
