Robert Lewandowski makes bold Erling Haaland prediction amid transfer chase
Robert Lewandowski believes Erling Haaland can become the “best striker in the world” as he continues to be linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland has 34 goals in just 37 Bundesliga games since joining Dortmund at the 2020, with major comparisons between he and Lewandowski.
Despite only playing in Germany for just over 12 months, the Norwegian could be on the move again, as Mino Raiola looks for his next club.
The super agent has been on a tour across the continent, reportedly meeting a number of potential suitors.
Barcelona and Real Madrid both met Raiola and the player’s father Alf-Inge, before it is believed he jetted across to England.
From the Premier League, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with the 20-year-old, who could cost as much as £150million.
Haaland has played a pivotal role in Dortmund continuing their challenge for a Champions League finish, although that remains in serious doubt.
However, despite the forward battling Lewandowski for the crown of the best striker in the league, the Poland international enjoys playing against him.
“He’s a great player. He has huge potential and he’s still very young,” the Bayern Munich forward told CBS Sports on Paramount +.
“If I see his face and how hungry he is to score goals. In the future, he has a chance to be the best striker in the world, for sure.
“But sometimes when everything is going well, it’s really not easy. But if you see him, he has scored so many goals and he’s so young.
“It’s great to play in the Bundesliga and it’s great to see a young player in this league and compare.
“He is the player who can be the best, but I want to play at the highest for many more years, so I am happy to be there where I am.”
Meanwhile, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has doubled down on their hopes of keeping their star, claiming their stance is clear.
"I don't see the need to set deadlines at the moment [for transfers]," Zorc said on Thursday. "With Erling Haaland, we have a clear stance, which we have communicated to the parties involved."
