Rio Ferdinand names his dream Man Utd attack but includes a transfer twist
Rio Ferdinand has outlined what he believes would be Manchester United's best front six – with the addition of one player.
United host neighbours Manchester City in Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final having surged up to second in the Premier League following four wins in their last five games.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used various different line-ups in midfield and attack, as debate continues to rage over how the manager can best use the talents at his disposal.
Bruno Fernandes is a pretty much fixture in the Red Devils line-up, while Marcus Rashford is also one of the first names on the team sheet.
But players like Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani have had to settle for bit-part roles, while Donny van de Beek has struggled to get on the pitch at all.
Now Ferdinand has revealed what he thinks would be United's best combination – with Aston Villa star Jack Grealish as the man to really liven up the attack, while there is no place for Anthony Martial.
Ferdinand said: "Scott McTominay holding, Pogba alongside him, a bit advanced maybe.
"Bruno in the 10, Grealish on the left, Rashford up top and Greenwood on the right. Imagine that – I’m licking my lips right now.”
Grealish has scored five times and laid on nine assists in Villa's 15 Premier League games so far this season.
He caused problems down United's right flank in the Red Devils' new year's Day win over Villa – and Ferdinand says he'd rather have the England man than Pogba in the team.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, he said: "I don’t care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man.
“I have heard from a lot of people that he is diligent in all the work he does off the pitch to get to where he is now. You are seeing results week in and week out.

"If I am a manager of a top team in England, a top three or four team, then I would not allow him to stay there, I would go and take him."
