Rio Ferdinand claims Man Utd & Man City are 'worried' about Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel has made Chelsea into a ‘machine’ and the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are all ‘worried’ about the Blues.

That’s the view of former United skipper Rio Ferdinand, who says the German coach has transformed the Blues since he replaced Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are joint-top of the Premier League alongside rivals Liverpool and United after four matches played this term, while City are a point adrift.

It’s already looking like a four-horse race for the Premier League title but Chelsea are many people’s pick to wrestle the championship away from Manchester City.

And Ferdinand says Tuchel’s men are proving their credentials already this term, with Tuchel making them into ‘machines’.

‘Chelsea are a concern if you’re trying to win the league,’ Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel.

‘Any of the teams like Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool will be looking at Chelsea and thinking they look strong, they look solid, they look like they have weapons all over the pitch.

‘One of the biggest factors they are stingy, they don’t concede goals now. They’ve got the best clean sheet record since Tuchel took over in the whole league, they’ve got best defensive record in terms of goals conceded.

‘He’s making them a machine, they look like a team that can play ugly. They could be abymsal on the day then Lukaku will come up with two goals.

‘Yesterday [the 3-0 win against Aston Villa] he fed off two mistakes from Mings, fed off it. He’s now – I don’t care – he’s one of the best no.9s in the world, fact, no debating it.

‘You talk about Kane, Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Benzema, Lukaku is dancing in that ring with them. When he went to Serie A and you win the team there as the talisman you’re up there.

‘When he left United he left under a bit of a cloud and he wasn’t in that conversation at the time but now he’s up there with them.

‘If you’re talking about the golden boot at the end of this year he’s in the conversation with Ronaldo and Kane all day long…and Salah!’
