Moussa Sissoko believes Tottenham have FAILED star striker Harry Kane by not winning any trophies with French midfielder claiming his team-mate ‘deserves to win titles every season’

  • Team-mate Moussa Sissoko thinks Spurs have let Kane down by not lifting titles
  • The 27-year-old has not won any silverware with the north London club at all

Moussa Sissoko believes Tottenham have let down Harry Kane in his pursuit for titles amid the star striker’s desire to quit the north London club.

The England captain informed the north London club of his desire to leave after Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League, even though Kane finished the Premier League season as top scorer and top assist maker.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to top-flight champions Manchester City, with French midfielder Sissoko claiming Kane deserves to win trophies every year.

Premier League Golden Boot winner Kane has told Spurs he wants to leave later this summer

Sissoko told Foot Mercato: ‘Like all players, he wants to win titles. A player of his stature deserves to win titles each season. Sadly, we have failed to do so each time for various reasons. I think that this must irk him inside.

‘I do not know if he will leave or not, but if he ever did leave, I would wish him the best because he deserves to win titles with all that he has done.

‘He is truly an extraordinary player. We would like to have him with us for as long as possible, aside from that, it is all between the president, his agent and him. I simply wish him the best.’

While Kane has not officially handed in a transfer request, it was revealed last month that the striker had asked Daniel Levy for a move, with the 27-year-old hoping that a verbal agreement between him and the Tottenham chairman will grant him a move.

The England forward, who is Tottenham’s second-highest goalscorer of all time, ended up with 23 goals and 14 assists for Tottenham this term to claim the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Overall, the striker notched up 33 goals in all competitions and formed a devastating partnership with South Korean winger Son Heung-Min at Spurs.

However, the England captain revealed it would be a ‘striker’s dream’ to play alongside Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, sparking more fuel into rumours that he will move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

He told Gary Neville in The Overlap podcast: ‘When I watch De Bruyne play he’s a special, special player and some of the balls I see him put in for City are just a striker’s dream if I’m honest.

‘But yeah he’s outstanding – you’ve seen him year in year out – he’s an outstanding player with the ball, off the ball, pressing. But his delivery is as good as I’ve ever seen to be honest.’

Sissoko confirmed that there was no official request from Kane to quit Spurs, but did brand him as one of the most exciting strikers in the world.

The midfielder added: ‘He did not officially say that he wanted to leave the club. Harry is one of, today, the best attackers in the world.

‘Each year, he finishes as the top scorer in the Premier League or is amongst the best goalscorers in the league. He executed an exceptional year, because he finished as top scorer and top assister in the Premier League.’
