Mourinho and Wenger in apparent disagreement over Liverpool keeper Alisson

Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger apparently disagree over Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson following his recent mistakes between the sticks.

Alisson dropped two clangers in Liverpool's defeat by Manchester City, as Pep Guardiola's Premier League leaders ran out 4-1 winners.

The Brazilian then dropped another clanger in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Leicester City.

Legendary Arsenal boss Wenger spoke out about Alisson ahead of Liverpool's 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday, where he questioned the Brazilian's mentality.

Wenger told beIN SPORTS: "Alisson Becker, for me, isn't the main problem of Liverpool. He is the consequence of the problem of Liverpool, and that's a little bit different.

"Secondly, to make that decision, you need to know the character of the player. For me, Alisson Becker, looks to carry the mistakes from one game to the next one.

"That's why you can question, 'Do you stick with him or not?'"

Tottenham boss Mourinho was asked about Hugo Lloris in a recent press conference, following a high-profile mistake from the Frenchman.

And Mourinho compared Lloris to Alisson, sticking up for both keepers, and claiming the recent mistakes mean little in the grand scheme of things.

Mourinho said: "For me Alisson is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world, in the last matches, not yesterday, he's made big mistakes but he's in the top five goalkeepers in the world.

"Hugo is the same. He's been performing super consistently since he recovered from injury and if he was responsible for any of our goals he's my number one and he has all my trust and confidence."
