Michael Owen highlights big Zidane concern as Man Utd hunt for a new manager
Michael Owen has highlighted a big concern he has with Zinedine Zidane as Manchester United begin their hunt for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United sacked Solskjaer on Sunday morning in the wake of their 4-1 away defeat to Watford on Saturday, which leaves the Red Devils seventh in the Premier League.
They now trail league leaders Chelsea by 12 points and have won just one of their last seven matches in the league.
Zidane is one of the names being linked with succeeding Solskjaer in the dugout at Old Trafford but former striker Owen has doubts over the Frenchman.
Writing on Twitter, Owen commented: “It has to be the worst possible time for Manchester United to be looking for a new manager. Early in the season with hardly any top managers available.
“The only obvious one available is Zidane but the language barrier is surely a huge issue. An interim manager looks likely – again.”
Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season and has been a reported target for United for a number of weeks.
Across two spells at the Santiago Bernabeu, Zidane won three Champions League titles, two league and two Club World Cups.

Other managers to have been linked with the vacant United job include Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
For now, Michael Carrick has been put in charge for United's forthcoming matches, starting with Tuesday's trip to Villarreal in the Champions League.
The club have said that they are looking to appoint an interim manager until the end of the season, as they previously did with Solskjaer when he replaced Jose Mourinho in 2018.
In an official statement, United said: "Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.
"While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.
