Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero free to leave Manchester United with contracts set to expire

Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero are free to speak to other clubs and leave Manchester United this month, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Both Rojo and Romero have only six months remaining on their Old Trafford contracts and can leave on free transfers at the end of the season.

Romero was left out of United’s 25-man Premier League squad at the start of the campaign, while Rojo was omitted from Solskjaer’s selection for the Champions League and is currently at home in Argentina.

The pair failed to secure moves away from the club during the summer transfer window but Solskjaer is willing to let both go in January in order to collect a fee.

“Both of them have contracts until the summer and they’re not going to be extended,” the United manager confirmed.

“We’re looking for them to find clubs. Marcos has been given time to go home, so he’s still in Argentina.

“Sergio has been back home as well to see his family but they’re pros, working hard and ready if they call in for us. Marcos will have to travel and do the quarantine before.”
