Man Utd to pay Paul Pogba £15million in wages even if he leaves club this summer
Manchester United will be forced to pay Paul Pogba £15million in wages – even if they decide to sell him to Paris Saint-Germain.
Speculation is mounting around Pogba after he entered the final 12 months of his current contract with United.
The midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to PSG and has so far refused to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
Pogba has been offered a new three-year contract worth £400,000 per week which would make him the Premier League’s best-paid player.
Although Pogba is keen on a move back to his home city, he has given United a difficult decision to make over his future.
The 28-year-old has not handed in an official transfer request, which means he would be due the remainder of his contract if United sold him this summer.
United would demand £60m from PSG to offset the difficulty of finding a replacement late in the summer transfer window, but that fee would come at a cost.
Pogba is currently United’s second-highest earner behind David de Gea and pulls in around £290,000 per week, which equates to £15m over a year.
Having already spent £73m to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and with another fee of £34m, which could rise to £43m, going to Real Madrid for Raphael Varane, United are reluctant to incur more heavy expenditure.
But having lost Pogba once on a free transfer – to Juventus in 2012 – the club are wary of the same thing happening in June 2022.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for his part, is confident that Pogba wants to stay at Old Trafford.
"The talks are ongoing between Paul's representatives and our representatives,” the United manager said after United's 4-2 defeat to QPR on July 24.
"All the dialogue I've had with Paul is he's looking forward to the season."
Meanwhile, PSG are remaining coy over their interest in Pogba.

“You see the list of players that we have at home,” PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino said following their 1-0 defeat by Lille in the Trophee des Champions on Sunday night.
“We have plenty of players. Half of the squad is at home. A few are on holidays.
“I think the performance was good. I am happy and I don’t want to talk about the names of the players that are in other clubs.”
