Man Utd suffer Moises Caicedo transfer setback after ‘agreement’ with Premier League rival
Man Utd: Solskjaer previews Watford FA Cup clash
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Caicedo this month, and reports from his native Ecuador claimed that a move to Old Trafford was ‘all agreed’. However, it now appears that he is set to join a Premier League rival instead.
Manchester United have suffered a huge setback in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, with the teenager reportedly set to join Brighton instead.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for Caicedo this month, while he has also attracted attention from other clubs.
Some reports from his native Ecuador claimed that a move to United was ‘all agreed’ with just ‘legal issues’ to sort before a deal could be completed.
However, El Diario insist that Independiente del Valle have not agreed to sell Caicedo this month.
And that certainly appears to be the case, with local Ecuadorian journalist Sebastian Machado now claiming that a move to United is no longer on the cards.
Instead, Caicedo is set to join Premier League rivals Brighton.
It is thought that Independiente del Valle have a good relationship with the Seagulls thanks to the pleasant dealings over the sale of Billy Arce.
Arce is yet to play for Brighton since joining in 2018 and has played mostly in South America since making the move to the AMEX Stadium.

Independiente del Valle’s general manager Santiago Morales recently insisted Man Utd have yet to lodge a bid for Caicedo but said other European clubs are interested.
And The Athletic’s respected Manchester United writer Laurie Whitwell today stated: “To complicate matters, Caicedo has multiple agents claiming to represent him, so United are having some trouble nailing down exactly who has the mandate to act on the teenager’s behalf, and there are competing factions attempting to promote him, hence a proliferation of stories surfacing.

“Amid all this, United are also conscious of managing the costs that can arise when numerous intermediaries become involved and that means there is still quite a way to go before any possible solution is found.”
The Athletic state former captain Antonio Valencia has also been asked about his fellow Ecuadorian.
United are in action tonight against Championship outfit Watford in the third round of the FA Cup.
