Man Utd signing Mason Mount puts paid to three deals and is bad for four players
Erik ten Hag's Man Utd summer to-do list
Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £55million bid to sign Mason Mount this summer after boss Erik ten Hag sanctioned a move for the Chelsea ace. If the England international does move to Old Trafford, he could prove to be the key to unlocking opposition defences next season and beyond. But his arrival would put paid to three deals and would be bad news for four current players.
Sabitzer, Bellingham and Rice deals off the table?
United have been linked to a whole host of midfielders ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The 13-time Premier League champions have reportedly been told to stump up £22million to sign Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich following a successful loan spell in England.
They have also been tipped to make a move for Jude Bellingham, who has become one of the best young midfielders in the world during his time with Borussia Dortmund over the last three seasons. Bellingham is expected to depart Signal Iduna Park this summer, with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea all vying for his signature.
Meanwhile, Declan Rice looks set to call time on his West Ham career and head to one of the Premier League powerhouses. And United have formed part of the discussion when it comes to his next club.

If United do get their hands on Mount, however, their interest in the three midfielders could fall by the wayside. Manager Erik ten Hag will want to build his squad sagaciously and could be reluctant to shell out mega money on a string of midfield aces when Mount alone could transform his team.
Bad news for McTominay, Van de Beek, Eriksen and Fred
The Red Devils midfield has improved significantly under Ten Hag but is far from world class. And there may be a paucity of space in their squad for all their current stars if Mount turns up at Old Trafford.

Since the arrival of Casemiro last summer, virtually every midfielder at United have found themselves falling down the pecking order. Fred and Scott McTominay, who were once the Red Devils’ first-choice midfield pairing, have started just 21 Premier League matches between them this season, while Donny van de Beek has started just twice in the top-flight.
All three players would suffer as a result of Mount’s arrival, while Christian Eriksen, who has been a regular starter under his current manager, could also find his game time limited as Ten Hag looks to compete for domestic and European silverware.
