Man Utd offer fresh Alex Telles update as Red Devils sweat on star for West Brom clash
Manchester United left-back Alex Telles could feature against West Brom this weekend despite reports claiming he has tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time. Telles has made just one appearance for United since his £13.6million deadline day arrival from Porto. The 27-year-old tested positive for coronavirus at the end of October which ruled him out of the matches against Arsenal, Istanbul Basaksehir and Everton.
Reports from Brazil on Sunday claimed Telles had once again tested positive while on international duty.
But United say that does not necessarily rule him out of the visit of West Brom on Saturday.
The club released the following statement on their website this afternoon: “The club is checking on the situation regarding Alex Telles and will assess the defender upon his return to Manchester from international duty later this week.
“Reports in Brazil have suggested Telles has tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time and could therefore miss his nation’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night.

“However, it is understood Alex’s positive test does not necessarily mean he has contracted the virus again.
“United’s medical staff at the Aon Training Complex are monitoring the situation in Brazil and will make an assessment when Telles returns to England later this week.

“It is still hoped our recent signing from FC Porto will be available to play in Saturday’s Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.”

So Telles would be in line for his first Premier League appearance from the start at Old Trafford on Saturday if he were available.
If not, then Brandon Williams could make his first league appearance of the campaign.
United head into the match looking to build on their 3-1 win at Goodison Park which eased the pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
