Man Utd ‘make contact with Mauricio Pochettino’ about becoming new boss

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Mauricio Pochettino with a view to him replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as boss.

Pressure is growing on Solskjaer after United's latest defeat by Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League, coming just days after they were beaten at home by Arsenal.

The Red Devils are currently fifteenth in the Premier League, and could drop to just one place above the relegation zone if they lose to Everton on Saturday.

According to the MEN, the Red Devils have approached representatives for ex-Tottenham manager Pochettino, but are reluctant to sack Solskjaer so early into the season.

Pochettino has been out of work since he parted company with Spurs in 2019.

The Argentine is keen to return to the Premier League, and has been linked with the Manchester United job for some time.

"I'm not going to close any door," said Pochettino, when asked on Sky Sports if he'd like to manage in England once again.

"I learnt when I was really, really young, [Pochettino's former coach] Jorge Griffa would say, 'Mauricio, football is going to dictate your way'.

"And I am waiting to feel what is the right project for us, which is the right way to take.

"My energy is full, I'd love to be involved in the game but at the same time I need to understand that at the moment is a good moment that you need to wait.

"You need to wait for the right project and for sure football is going to bring what football wants and we need to be open and to accept or not."
