Man Utd have ‘already held talks’ over potential replacements for Paul Pogba

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly already pursuing moves for a potential replacement for wantaway French midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.

Pogba's contract expires at the end of next season and the 28-year-old midfielder has rejected the latest deal tabled by the club, believed to be worth a staggering £350,000 a week.

With strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Pogba wanting the move, the Red Devils may well allow him to leave this summer and avoid losing him for nothing in 2022.

A fee of £50million will be enough to prize the World Cup winner away from Old Trafford and Manchester United have already been in contact with their three targets to replace Pogba.

According to ESPN, United's chief negotiator Matt Judge has opened talks with the club's three primary central midfield targets, Eduardo Camavinga, Ruben Neves and Saul Niguez.

Although Camavinga does not fit the club's new transfer culture of signing players aged between 23 and 28-years-old but it is understood that this strategy is open to flexibility as shown by the signing of veteran forward Edinson Cavani last year.

Like Pogba, fellow French international Camavinga is also out of contract at the end of June 2022 and with Bayern Munich also interested, a fee of £50million will be required to prize him away from Rennes during the current window.

Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid all summer and is believed to want his future resolved this week.

He is likely to leave, with the club happy to let him go and the player wanting a move and, despite his £125million release clause, Atleti are only demanding a £40million fee for Saul.

His representatives flew into the UK on Sunday to speak to a number of Premier League clubs, most notably Man United and Liverpool.

The third man on the shortlist is Wolves' Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves who had been likely to leave Molineux earlier in the summer.

However, the chances of a move have cooled in recent weeks and he has recently expressed his excitement to work with new Wolves manager Bruno Lage.

United are not the only Premier League club to be linked with the former Porto man, with Arsenal also said to be monitoring the 24-year-old.

A move for a Pogba replacement will be reliant on either the Frenchman leaving or other players being sold to fund a transfer, with over £100million already spent by United this summer on Jadon Sancho and soon-to-be announced signing Raphael Varane.

Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Diogo Dalot are the most likely first-team squad members to leave having been out on loan last season and could bring in a combined transfer fee of £35million.
