Man Utd fans get excited as Patrice Evra theory emerges

Patrice Evra took in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw vs Chelsea last weekend sat alongside Ed Woodward.

The Frenchman and executive vice-chairman could be seen engaging throughout the contest at Stamford Bridge.

For many it was a peculiar sight, with the former United star without a club since leaving West Ham earlier this year.

Anthony Martial’s double appeared to have won the game for Jose Mourinho’s side, before Ross Barkley’s late leveller.

But away from the thrills of the game, United fans were also excited by the prospect of Evra’s future involvement at the club.

Fans quickly surmised that Evra is in fact being lined up by Woodward as the club’s director of football – a position that has been called to be filled at Old Trafford for some time to solve their poor record in the transfer market.

Evra, now 37 years of age, enjoyed taking in a Chelsea clash from the stands this time, paying tribute to the Blues for the battles he experienced against them on the pitch as a player.

"The gaffer always said that beating Chelsea meant we would win the league at the end of the season," Evra wrote on social media. "They were similar to us with massive character and great players thank you guys for the challenge every seasons."

Evra teased his return to Old Trafford recently too, insisting when he kissed the badge it was not merely to get the fans in his pocket.

He wrote: "There are players who kisses the badge to get fans in their Pocket!! you will soon understand what that meant to me to play for Manchester United

Evra will likely be back at the Theatre of Dreams on Tuesday, when another of his former clubs, Juventus , travel to face United in the Champions League.

Former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo will feature for the Old Lady after serving his one-game suspension in the previous gameweek.
