Man Utd fans convinced Borussia Dortmund have dropped Jadon Sancho transfer hint
Many Manchester United fans are convinced Jadon Sancho could be on his way to to Old Trafford after Borussia Dortmund left the winger out of their official kit launch this week.
Sancho, 20, has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s biggest names after another stellar campaign in Germany’s top flight which saw him rack up 17 goals and 16 assists for second-placed Dortmund.
So, considering Sancho has emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one attacking target this summer, his omission from Dortmund’s promo video for their new Puma strip raised eyebrows among supporters of both clubs.
Fans of the Red Devils have been desperate for any updates on Sancho’s potential arrival and the youngster’s surprise exclusion added a little more fuel to a transfer saga which is likely to rumble on over the coming weeks and months.
This is how United supporters reacted to Dortmund’s kit launch video…
However, Gary Neville has played down United’s chances of a cut-price move for Sancho given how savvy Dortmund have proven themselves to be in recent years.
‘I think you might have to pay a little bit more than that, Ole!’ Neville said during Sky Sports’ coverage of United’s 3-0 win at Brighton on Tuesday night.
‘I think that’s the problem, some clubs will believe that other clubs will get desperate and sell players on the cheap.
‘But I’m not sure you can bully clubs like Borussia Dortmund.’
Neville added: ‘At the time you questioned his decision to leave Manchester City but they weren’t putting youngsters in the first-team at that time.
‘What he’s done is giving himself a wonderful experience, furthered his career.’
Neville is convinced his former club are back on the right track again but feels Solskjaer is still ‘three or four’ quality signings away from seriously competing with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
‘There’s no doubt that a year ago there was a massive worry about the club’s direction, where it was going,’ the ex-England defender said in an Instagram video on Wednesday morning.
‘There’s a huge improvement, the club has been sanitised from a point of view of players who were just coming for money.
‘When you look at the ones out on the pitch, theres a mixture of ones who weren’t working who are now working because they’re surrounded by better players.
‘Young players who are desperate to play for the club and some players who have got great ability have realigned their commitment over the last few months and are certainly in a better frame of mind.
‘However, now is the time to go for it, get those three or four players who are needed, close that gap now when the rest are maybe not reinvesting and get closer to that title.’
The Red Devils’ victory at the Amex Stadium ensured they maintained pressure on fourth-placed Chelsea, who travel across London to face West Ham on Wednesday evening.
