Man Utd fans baffled by David de Gea’s reaction to Wan-Bissaka in new Villa clip
Manchester United fans were left baffled by David de Gea’s reaction to Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his incredible clearance in new footage from the win over Aston Villa.
The Red Devils matched rivals Liverpool on 33 points at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial scored the opening goal before Bruno Fernandes scored his 15th goal of the season from the penalty spot.
But they were put under pressure by Villa, leading to Bertrand Traore slot past De Gea – at a time when the Spaniard has come under pressure.
And new footage has emerged of the shot-stopper having a bizarre moment with Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford.
In the clip, Jack Grealish is attacking down United’s left wing as the defenders are forced back.
And the Englishman spots forward Anwar El Ghazi running towards the back post, looping a cross towards him.
But Wan-Bissaka tracks the Dutchman all the way, getting his right foot to the ball just ahead of the attacker for a corner kick
As the United players line up for the set piece, De Gea can be heard shouting in frustration: “Come On!”
The goalkeeper strides towards the full-back, yelling “hey” twice, with an angry look on his face.
Wan-Bissaka, though, ignores the 30-year-old as he gets ready for the corner kick.
This footage was shared on Reddit on Monday evening, where the United faithful were left confused by De Gea’s angry reaction.
“Why is De Gea so angry at AWB’s tackle,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Don’t p*** DDG off.”
While a third suggested what the Spaniard wanted to say, with: “De Gea: ‘take his f***ing head off next time’.”
And a fourth simply said: “He is such a confusing player this season.”
De Gea has suffered a tough season at Old Trafford, letting 29 goals past him in all competitions while only recording five clean sheets.
And fans were in agreement about the goalkeeper after his display in the 2-2 draw against Leicester last month.
