Manchester United could lose three attackers before tomorrow in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, reports say. The Portugal international has moved back to the club from Juventus. And, now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may overhaul his squad despite the clock winding down.
Ronaldo had appeared destined to join Manchester City as recently as Friday morning.
However, after a whirlwind 24 hours that saw the forward take calls from the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra, he moved back to Old Trafford instead.
United are now hoping Ronaldo can fire them to Premier League glory, something he did three times during his first spell at the Theatre of Dreams.
And The Athletic say as many as three forward players may now leave Solskjaer’s side in the aftermath of Ronaldo’s homecoming.
One name mentioned is Daniel James.
The Wales international has been linked with Leicester, Leeds and Brighton throughout the summer, despite Solskjaer valuing his presence.

James started Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux but was the first player to be replaced, with Edinson Cavani then coming on.
And United are likely to face a fight to keep hold of the former Swansea star, who often divides opinion amongst the supporters.
It’s also stated that Anthony Martial could be the subject of offers, too.
The France international has blown hot and cold ever since his move from Monaco in 2015 and, when it comes to the No 9 role, is now behind Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order.
Martial came off the bench against Wolves with United chasing a winner.
And while his involvement suggests United would prefer to keep the 25-year-old, the return of Ronaldo complicates matters.

A third player United may allow to leave is Jesse Lingard, too.
Publicly, Solskjaer has stressed the England international is currently in his plans after shining at West Ham last term.
But the Red Devils have said similar things before about Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez before they were cut loose.
And, now, it’s possible Lingard will be allowed to leave.
It’s quiet on the incomings front following Ronaldo’s move, with the Juventus star returning after deals for Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
But whether United alter their stance, with the clock ticking down, remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood thinks Martial, Lingard and James should all opt to leave following Ronaldo’s homecoming.
“I think a few players will need to go,” he said.
“They need to hand in a 25-man squad, there’s a few there who are not getting in the squad.
“Jesse Lingard misses out, I think he needs to go and play for West Ham.
“He had a great time there last year, he looked like he wanted to go and play football and he was outstanding. I think it’s his time to leave the club.
“I think Daniel James might leave as well. Leeds are chasing him and he played well against them in the first game of the season.
“It was a great rehearsal for him. He’s got outstanding pace and directness. I think he’ll be another one [who leaves].
“For me, Anthony Martial will be moved on.
“If they’ve got a home for Martial and they can get the right money, I think they will shake hands and say it never worked out.”
