Ljungberg opens up on chat with Daniel Ek after he secures funds to buy Arsenal
Freddie Ljungberg insists Daniel Ek is a "massive" Arsenal fan after the Spotify CEO confirmed he has the funds to buy the club.
Ek threw his hat in the ring to take over in north London following the club's doomed European Super League venture.
Arsenal fans have had a long-standing issue with current owner Stan Kroenke, and the relationship soured further after the club signed up for the controversial breakaway tournament.
Gunners supporters are now calling for Kroenke to stand down, and amid the melee, Ek has made it clear he wants to buy the club.
Former Arsenal star Ljungberg has actually previously met Ek.
And on Thursday night, ahead of the Gunners' Europa League clash with Villarreal, he said on BT Sport: "He's a massive Arsenal fan.
"When I was with the youth at Arsenal I was asked by Spotify if I could have a chat with their leaders. He's definitely a massive, massive Arsenal fan."
Arsenal fans are largely behind Ek's proposal to purchase the club.
But the Kroenke's have absolutely no intention of selling up and have twice confirmed this stance.
Ek isn't disheartened by the Kroenke family playing hardball and laid out his plans for Arsenal in a recent interview with CNBC.
He said: "Arsenal is my team I love the history, I love the players. Of course, I love the fans and I see a tremendous opportunity to bring the club back to its glory.
"I want to establish trust with the fans and I want to engage the fans again.
"So to answer your question I am very serious. I have secured the funding and I want to bring a very compelling offer to the owners and I hope they hear me out."
