Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk will be outpaced by 38-year-old defender on FIFA 22
38-year-old centre-back Pepe has received a pace rating higher than Liverpool's star defender Virgil van Dijk in FIFA 22.
The Portuguese defender was rated as an 81 overall with 66 pace on FIFA 21.
But he has been significantly upgraded for the new game, and EA have handed Pepe an 82 overall rating with 80 pace.
Van Dijk has also seen his pace increased – from 76 to 78 – but he's still two ratings off the speed of the Porto man.
And to make matters worse for Van Dijk, his overall rating has declined from 90 to 89 overall.
"Pepe is now faster at the age of 38 than Virgil Van Dijk, who ran the fastest speed in Europe just 2 years ago," one fan tweeted.
Another added: "Don't understand how Pepe and Skriniar have had pace upgrades to make them faster than Virg and Rudiger."
"This is more to do with Van Dijk being too slow than Pepe being too fast," a third added.
Van Dijk spent the majority of last season injured after an ACL tear, and that could be the reason for the downgrade.
While Pepe was part of a Porto side that knocked Juventus out of the Champions League.

Manchester City played a prank on Kyle Walker with his FIFA 22 pace rating.
Walker is one of the fastest players in the Premier League, but when the Champions presented Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne with a fake card they couldn't help but pull a prank.
"That's a fake one, this guy is the quickest person in the world," De Bruyne said while laughing.
The pair presented the card to a visibly annoyed Walker, who threw it in the bin.
