Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum has reportedly already shaken hands over a move in this summer’s transfer window. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Barcelona for some time, but has agreed to join Inter Milan according to a report from Italy.

Wijnaldum has been a crucial player for Jurgen Klopp’s side during their charge to Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup glory over the past couple of seasons.

But the 30-year-old’s contract expires this summer, and no progress has been made over a new deal for the Dutch international.

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has been desperate to reunite with the player he worked with an international level.

However, it now appears Wijnaldum could be heading to Serie A, as he ‘already has a handshake’ with Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta.

That’s according to Sport Mediaset, cited by FC Inter 1908.

The website quotes Claudio Raimond of Sport Mediaset saying: “It’s a low-profile and free agents market: Marotta therefore looks to Georginio Wijnaldum.

“From what I know Inter already have a handshake with Wijnaldum, already from last year. Then they decided to do it on a free transfer.”

The publication goes on to say that Inter boss Antonio Conte is an admirer of the midfielder, valuing his experience in the Champions League as well as in England’s top flight.

Liverpool have reportedly made Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus their top target to replace Wijnaldum if he does leave this summer.

But the 23-year-old will not come cheap and could cost as much as £35m.

But after a summer without spending last year, Liverpool’s owners FSG may have to bite the bullet – especially after the Reds’ title defence was blown apart by the worst injury crisis of Klopp’s reign this term.

Neuhaus recently spoke about the speculation surrounding his future, telling German publication Kicker: “I have a contract until 2024 and I have very big goals for this season.

“That’s what I’m concentrating on now. [Transfer talk] is really not a big issue for me now.

“I play at Borussia, I have a contract, and we as a club are still pursuing very big goals this season. I can’t say what will happen in the summer at the moment.

“I’m also very relaxed about the future. Borussia is a club where I was able to develop excellently and where everything is there. I know what I have with Borussia.”
