Liverpool hero Danny Murphy explains why Mohamed Salah may want to leave
Liverpool: Klopp responds to Salah rumours
Liverpool hero Danny Murphy has given his verdict on why Mohamed Salah may not want to see out the remainder of his career at Anfield. Salah refused to rule out a move away from Liverpool in an interview with Spanish media in early December. The Egyptian said he was focused on performing for the Reds but admitted you “never know what is going to happen in the future”.
With his Liverpool hat on, former midfielder Murphy admits it doesn’t look good for Salah’s long-term future at Anfield.
But the pundit says playing for the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona may be a dream for the forward, and that fans must understand some players want to have different experiences to others in their careers.
“Well you have to be careful what he actually said and what he didn’t say,” Murphy told Stadium Astro.
“He said [Real Madrid and Barcelona are] two big clubs and you’ll never know what will happen in the future.

“Now, I initially was thinking ‘that doesn’t sound good’.
“I automatically go to being a Liverpool fan as a kid, Liverpool player, it’s kind of my club if you like, you kind of think: ‘How can you be so disloyal? How can you think about moving anywhere else?’.
“Then you have to put into context and understand the mentality of a player that’s from a different country, with a different mentality, with different desires, different ambitions.
“So why would he block it off? Why would he shut the door to that?

“Maybe he’s dreamt of playing in Spain for one of those teams, maybe he wants a different lifestyle, maybe his family, his wife wants to try [something else].
“There’s a multitude of reasons why players want to move to different clubs and try different things. So I wouldn’t criticise him too much for not ruling it out.”
Salah insisted his future is in Liverpool’s hands during the interview with Spanish outlet AS.
“I think Madrid and Barcelona are top clubs,” Salah said.
“We never know what is going to happen in the future, but right now I’m focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League again with my club.
“[How long I will stay at Liverpool is] a tough one, but right now I can say that everything is in the club’s hands.
“Of course I want to break records here and, I repeat, every record in the club, but everything’s in the hands of the club.”
