Liverpool ace Salah tipped to join Real Madrid over Barcelona despite potential Messi exit

Liverpool: Klopp responds to Salah rumours

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been linked with a transfer away from the Reds as reports grow over his unhappiness at Anfield. La Liga beckons with Barcelona the favourites but Real Madrid could also snap up the Egypt international.

Liverpool star Salah has been told he could sign for Real Madrid this summer, despite strong interest from Barcelona as Lionel Messi’s situation

That is the verdict from La Liga TV pundit Kevin Campbell, who believes Barca are in a transitional period.

The Egypt international has been Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, netting 13 in 15 so far this year.

The Reds are top of the table despite their injury problems and much of that can be put down to Salah’s goals.

But reports have emerged that the 28-year-old is unhappy at Liverpool and is looking for a new challenge with Spain’s top two clubs an attractive proposition.

With Messi looking set to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires, Barcelona are desperate to land a replacement.

However, Real Madrid are also keen on the former Chelsea star and are set to open talks over the summer.

And Campbell believes Los Blancos are firmly placed to sign Salah over Barcelona.

“I could see him Salah fitting in perfectly at Real Madrid,” Campbell told Football Insider.

“Barcelona are in a transition period and while they may need to invest if Messi goes, I think Real Madrid are a lot more likely a destination than Barcelona right now.

“They have more of a complete squad and of course they are the current La Liga champions. You know what that club brings, it is a powerhouse.”

If Salah does leave, Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann believes his former club should snap up Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman.

Hamann said: “If Salah were to move, if he wants to go, which might be quite likely, that will have a knock-on effect.

“Liverpool will have to buy somebody. Whoever they sign, that team will need to buy a replacement. Things happen quickly.

“For me, the best winger out there at the moment is Kingsley Coman.

“He had injury problems when he came to Munich but he got fit and scored the winner in the Champions League final.

“He’s two-footed, he’s quick, he’s very clever, great decision making and his finishing has improved a lot. Coman is the player. Bayern Munich aren’t interested in losing him, he’s happy.”
