Lionel Messi’s angry Barcelona reaction caught on camera after Eibar clash
Lionel Messi cut a disgruntled figure as Barcelona were held by lowly Eibar on Tuesday evening.
Ronald Koeman was without his star man, who watched on from the stands, as substitute Ousmane Dembele rescued a point for the home side.
Messi's reaction in the stadium seemingly sums up how he has been feeling about the Catalan club for a while.
The Argentinian was caught on camera shaking his head in disgust after yet more dropped points at the Nou Camp.
But are Barcelona going to have to get used to this with Messi still angling for a shock exit when his contract finally expires in the summer.
“I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity," Messi said this week.
"I’m not thinking too far ahead in the short term and just want to see how the season finishes.”
A Barcelona stay now looks unlikely as the likes of Manchester City, PSG and MLS teams chase his signature.
But Koeman will probably just be thankful the Spanish side managed to avoid a high-profile Messi exit in the summer.
“It was far from easy for me to say I wanted to leave the club and the city … but I genuinely felt it was time to go,” Messi said.
“I felt I’d completed a cycle and it was time to leave the club that had given me so much.
"I wanted to win titles and battle for the Champions League and felt it was time for change.
"The president then started to filter this and that to paint a negative picture of me.”
Any US club willing to sign Messi with have to fend off competition from the likes of Man City, PSG and Inter Milan in the coming months.
The 33-year-old is free to talk to clubs next month.
