FA Trophy draw as National League clubs including Chesterfield and Oldham enter

The FA Trophy third round draw is upon us as National League sides say hello to the famous non-league competition.

The draw takes place on talkSPORT 2 on Monday afternoon with the likes of Chesterfield, Oldham, Southend United and reigning holders FC Halifax Town entering the competition.

They will be joining the likes of City of Liverpool, Walsall Wood, AFC Totton and Frome Town, with the minnows inevitably hoping to get a big draw and cause an upset in the third round.

Highest-ranked sides

As you'll already know, National League sides enter the competition for the first time at this stage. But who are the highest-ranked of those in the draw at 3:15pm?

Chesterfield are the current leaders of the National League, while Barnet are hot on their heels in second. Bromley, Solihull Moors, Gateshead, Altrincham and FC Halifax Town make up the current top seven in the division.

What happened last year?

FC Halifax Town are the reigning FA Trophy champions, beating Gateshead in the final.

Barnet and Altrincham reached the semi-finals, while Farsley Celtic were surprise quarter-finalists.

Wrexham and Notts County, who ended the season with promotion to League Two, were both dumped out on penalties in the fourth round.

Fixture dates

The ties being made today will be played on December 9.

But all the teams battling will be hoping of making it to Wembley with this season's FA Trophy final set for Saturday May 11 or Sunday May 12.
