Ex-Ajax star Jerge Hoefdraad dies after being shot in head at party

Former Ajax footballer Jerge Hoefdraad has died at the age of just 35 after being shot in the head while trying to break up an argument at a party.
Dutch outlet De Telegraaf report that Hoefdraad died on Monday from the serious injuries that he sustained at a gathering on Sunday.
They say that he was he was shot in the head at the event in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, with police believing that he had tried to calm a quarrel between two parties.
Despite being rushed to hospital and having urgent treatment, his situation remained critical and he sadly did not survive.
Hoefdraad began his career at Ajax alongside the likes of Ryan Babel and Urby Emanuelson, going on to play for RKC Waalwijk, Almere City, Telstar and Cambuur before signing for ASC De Volewijckersearlier this year.
Cambuur wrote on their official Twitter account: "It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our former player Jerge Hoefdraad.
"On behalf of everyone at SC #Cambuur We wish all family, friends and relatives a lot of strength."
Former Liverpool and Fulham forward Babel has also offered a response, posting the name of his former colleague alongside a crying face.
Waalwijk, who gave the playmaker his senior debut, wrote: "It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our former player Jerge.
"RKC Waalwijk sympathizes with his family, friends, and loved ones. Jerry, rest in peace."
