Harry Kane has already told Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag everything he needs to know regarding the impact he could make at Old Trafford, with the Tottenham captain’s future currently hanging in the balance as the Lilywhites head for another season devoid of silverware.
United will be in the market for a striker this summer to chip in with goals alongside Marcus Rashford. Wout Weghorst was a shrewd loan acquisition in January but the Dutchman, for all his hard work, has been far from prolific.
Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen is touted as a potential target but Manchester City and Chelsea are expected to provide rival interest, with talks already rumoured to have taken place. Furthermore, the Azzurri are unlikely to sell for less than £88million.
With one year remaining on his contract, Kane may be a cheaper option than the Nigerian and reports indicate that senior United figures feel as though the Tottenham star would provide a greater guarantee of Premier League goals.

The 29-year-old is chasing down Alan Shearer at the top of the division’s all-time charts, while his current total of 203 leaves him third in the standings. Silverware has been a big miss in Kane’s career to date, however, as he is yet to win a single trophy at club or international level.
With United weighing up whether to go all in on Osimhen, Kane or one of their other ambitious targets, the Spurs talisman has already suggested to a Red Devils legend that he is keen to pursue major individual and team titles.

“I’m not afraid to say that I want to be the best,” Kane told Gary Neville on The Overlap. “I’m not afraid to say that I want to get on the level that [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi got onto.
“That’s my ultimate goal, to be winning trophies season-in, season-out and scoring 50-60 goals season-in, season-out. If I give myself anything lower then when I get to the end of my career I might feel like I could’ve given a little bit more, scored a few more goals.”
With progression evidently at the top of Kane’s priority list, United earned a huge boost in their pulling power by beating Newcastle to Carabao Cup glory thanks to victory at Wembley last month.
Prior to their latest triumph, the Red Devils had gone without silverware since 2017. It remains to be seen whether Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would be willing to let Kane leave this summer with one year left to run on his contract, having previously stood in the way of a move to Manchester City in 2021.
