Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Ray Winstone could make Southend the new Wrexham
English footballer could set for more Hollywood interest – as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is reportedly ready to make Southend United the 'next Wrexham'.
The Rock's interest in Southend reportedly comes after Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the Red Dragons, and then led them back into the Football League. The stars' story can be seen on the hit Disney+ show 'Welcome to Wrexham'.
And The Rock is interested in producing a similar style documentary with Southend – after it's claimed he was contacted through his company, Seven Bucks Productions. Majority owner Ron Martin put the club up for sale in March, after the club narrowly avoided liquidation.

A group of local businessmen have been in “advanced talks” to buy the side, who finished eighth in the National League this season. And a report by The Athletic states the takeover could see renowned actor Ray Winstone come to the forefront.
The potential new ownership group is led by Kristofer Tremaine and Simon Jackson, who run a London-based hedge fund named Kimura Capital. The group already have their fingers in sport, with Kimura Racing.
However, the report notes there could be mixed feelings about Winstone, with the actor a well-known West Ham fan.
