Daniel Levy makes intervention in Son Heung-min contract talks as Tottenham seek new deal
Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has become personally involved in trying to get Son Heung-min to sign a new contract at the club, and has promised to give him a contract which matches Harry Kane’s weekly wages.
Spurs have reportedly been in talks over a new deal for Son for a number of weeks now.
The forward has established a lethal partnership with Kane, and the pair have now combined for more goals than any other partnership in Premier League history – apart from Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.
They have assisted each other for 29 goals in the league, and have both been in fine form this season.
Spurs are mounting an unlikely title challenge, and are currently third in the table – just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Son, who has been at the club since 2015, is under contract until 2023 and is one of the club’s highest earners.
But Tottenham officials want to reward him for his impressive form and give him a bumper new contract.
While there hasn’t been much speculation about other teams being interested in signing him, Son is reportedly on the verge of being offered a new contract to give him the same salary as club captain Kane.
Kane earns a reported £200,000 per-week before bonuses, and Spurs chairman Levy has personally involved himself in the negotiations to tie Son to an extension.

Speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast, Ian McGarry revealed that the star is expected to be given a written offer by the end of the week.
“Daniel Levy, met with Son’s representatives from the CAA,” he said.
“The deal was discussed in general.
“The deal we are led to believe that is being offered to Son will be equal to Harry Kane’s.

“He’ll be earning around £200,000 per-week – if he agrees to it obviously.
“That’s an awful lot of money for Tottenham Hotspur.
“They’ve traditionally had their wage structure, and there’s a pyramid structure to that.
“Son earning the same as the captain would be quite a departure in terms of the way Spurs do their business.
“He’s a player who has scored some sensational goals this season, he’s the third top scorer in the Premier League in this calendar year, and he’s already been at the club for seven years [sic].
“This would probably take him more or less past his prime and into the point where he would be looking to sign a deal either abroad or less than this particular one.
“A four-year contract is being offered, substantial money, Spurs fans will be extremely pleased that those negotiations are ongoing.
“Another meeting is planned before the end of the week, and that is expected to result in a written offer to Son in order to secure his future to [the club].”
