Aston Villa will offer Jack Grealish a blockbuster new contract in a final attempt to make him snub Manchester City, according to reports. Man City has progressed their attempts to sign the Villa captain in recent days, but he is yet to decide on his future.

On Friday, The Telegraph’s John Percy reported that City have finally made their opening offer for Grealish.

The Premier League champions have submitted a bid worth £100million for Grealish’s widely-lauded services.

If Villa accept the bid, it would be the most expensive Premier League deal in history, surpassing the £89m fee Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.

The 25-year-old will return to training on Monday following a well-deserved holiday after his Euro 2020 exploits with England this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Villa will welcome Grealish back with a bumper contract offer in a desperate final attempt to keep hold of him.

The report states Villa are ready to smash their pay ceiling and offer Grealish a new deal worth £200,000-a-week.

Club owners – Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris – have personally sanctioned the monumental offer worth £10m-a-year.

It’s an unheard-of contract offer by the Midlands club, but it isn’t likely to be decisive in Grealish’s final decision.

Grealish has been at his boyhood club since the age of eight and may feel like now is as good a time as there ever will be to make the step up.

He was knocking on the door of Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up at the European Championships, and a big move may help him push into it.

Furthermore, the Daily Star claim Grealish’s current City will likely double his £130,000-a-week salary at the Etihad Stadium anyway.

He’d join the club as the third-highest earner in Pep Guardiola’s squad, just below Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

City can also offer something Villa simply can’t – trophies and success not just domestically, but in Europe too.

It’s only a matter of time before Guardiola guides the Citizens to their first-ever Champions League crown.

Grealish will be dreaming of being a part of that, and it’ll almost certainly be a big factor in his final decision.

This story will ramp up next week once the English ace returns to Villa and holds crunch talks.
