Arsenal Women ‘furious’ over Covid-19 positive after three stars’ Dubai trips
Arsenal Women stars have reportedly been left “furious” after one of three players who travelled to Dubai during their Christmas break tested positive for Covid-19.
Women’s Super League teams are not due to return to action until this weekend after playing their last round of matches on December 20, meaning players were able to enjoy a three-week break over the festive period.
And according to The Telegraph, three Arsenal Women players spent their time off in Dubai despite London moving into Tier 4 restrictions.
One of them is said to have since tested positive for Covid-19, leaving team-mates and senior staff unhappy.
As a result, several players are now being forced to isolate under government guidelines after coming into close contact with the star in question, meaning Arsenal have asked to postpone their Women’s Super League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday.
The club are understood to have investigated the three players’ journeys internally and come to the conclusion that all of them were made for “business” reasons.
No action will therefore be taken against them, despite many of their team-mates being left “furious” with their decision to jet out to the United Arab Emirates.
Republic of Ireland winger Katie McCabe was one of the players who travelled to Dubai, although she was not the one diagnosed with coronavirus.
McCabe shared pictures on Instagram which showed her on a Dubai beach, and two other team-mates are said to have made the same trip.
Four Manchester City players also tested positive for Covid-19 after travelling to Dubai over Christmas, but they did so with the club’s full permission.
It is believed City are now asking for their match against West Ham to also be postponed.

However, City stars were free to make use of a permitted travel corridor to Dubai as Manchester was placed under Tier 3 restrictions at the time, which state that overseas travel is allowed under the Government’s rules – albeit not advised.
Arsenal players, on the other hand, made their journeys after the introduction of a ban on any travel from Tier 4 areas in London and the South East, except for business.
