Arsenal swap deal ‘possible’ as Juventus chief makes Alexandre Lacazette request

Arsenal could strike a swap deal with Juventus involving Alexandre Lacazette and Federico Bernardeschi, according to reports.

While Arsenal fans continue to wait for good news on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signing a new deal, Lacazette’s future at the club looks uncertain.

Juventus are showing interest in the Frenchman with Lacazette yet to agree an extension on his current Arsenal contract which expires in 2022.

Chief Football Officer at Juventus Fabio Paratici has now reportedly opened talks with Arsenal over a deal for Lacazette.

Italian journalist and transfer expert Nicolo Schira claims Arsenal have their eye on midfielder Bernardeschi also.

“Raúl #Jimenez is still the main target of #Juventus as a striker,” he tweeted.

“Paratici has also asked info to #Arsenal on Alexandre #Lacazette, who could leave this summer.

“Gunners are looking Federico #Bernardeschi and could be possible a swap, even if Berna prefers stay at Juve.”

While Wolves striker Jimenez looks to be new boss Andrea Pirlo’s priority target the Mexican is also attracting interest from Manchester United.

Lacazette would likely prove a cheaper option and Bernardeschi could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal.

However, persuading the Italian midfielder to leave could prove difficult with the player seemingly keen to stay having turned down a transfer to Fiorentina.

Mikel Arteta has made signing a midfielder a priority with the club being linked to the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

Another potential loan deal for Dani Ceballos is also being explored but Real Madrid are yet to decide if he will be part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans next term.

Last month Daily Star sport columnist Paul Merson named three positions his former side need to target and suggested John Stones as an ideal target.

"Arsenal need a centre-back, a central midfielder and another striker. The whole spine of the team really," Merson told the Daily Star.

"And I think he might go for John Stones at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola doesn’t seem to trust him, and Arteta has worked with him before.

"Arsenal need an out and out defender, not another David Luiz who knows how to play the ball out from the back but makes a lot of mistakes.

"But Stones is English, young enough to improve, and Arteta will know all about him and know he fits into the system."
