Arsenal are ready to make an offer to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo but the Brazilian club do not want to sell the player before the Club World Cup in February, reports in South America claim. The Gunners are now beginning to intensify their search for a midfielder with Mikel Arteta currently light in the middle of the park.
Arsenal snapped up Albert Sambi Lokonga in the summer from Anderlecht but the Belgian has failed to hit the ground running in north London.
He was the club’s only available senior central midfielder last weekend in the FA Cup third-round defeat to Nottingham Forest.
After the match, Arteta and technical director Edu are thought to have agreed to prioritise the signing of midfield reinforcements.
One of the names on their radar is 20-year-old prospect Danilo, who has made a name for himself in his native Brazil.

The youngster made 22 appearances in Serie A last term while also featuring 13 times in the Libertadores.
According to Brazilian news outlet Lance, Arsenal are now prepared to make a bid.
It’s reported that the Gunners are ready and willing to pay around £21million for Danilo.
However, the story also cites how the player’s club Palmeiras are keen to keep the midfielder, certainly past the January window.

Instead, any talks or desire to strike a deal will be shelved until after the completion of the tournament.
Arsenal require a midfielder as soon as possible and if Palmeiras’ reported stance is indeed the club’s position, the Gunners are likely to explore other targets.

Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes remains of huge interest to Arteta and Edu but he is valued at around £40m.
The Gunners appear unlikely to spend that this month as they target a quick-fix or loan solution.
That’s why Juventus’ Arthur Melo is now being explored with club-to-club contact underway.
Juventus want to sign a replacement first though, before they agree to selling Arthur.
