Arsenal hierarchy receive concerns from club scouts over Houssem Aouar transfer
Arsenal: Ozil's numbers as star nears Fenerbahce move
Arsenal scouts have reportedly raised concerns with the Gunners hierarchy over a move for Houssem Aouar. The France international came close to joining the club in the summer transfer window but Lyon held firm during negotiations and kept hold of their star man.
Aouar was keen to join Arsenal and is optimistic that a move may still materialise in the future.
The Gunners saw two bids rejected for Aouar before they turned their attention back to Thomas Partey on deadline day.
Partey’s £45million release clause was successfully deposited at La Liga HQ as Lucas Torreira headed the other way on a season long-loan.
Yet even though Arsenal managed to bring in their midfield target Partey, it hasn’t stopped them from monitoring Aouar’s progress this season.

However, according to David Ornstein, there has been a slight change of stance from Arsenal.
The club’s scouting of Aouar, which is more than just watching matches, is said to have raised concerns at the club, meaning a move is now unlikely.
Arsenal are now expected to begin exploring other targets with movement unlikely this January.
They have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Julian Brandt.

He’s a player the club likes but ultimately his future at Borussia Dortmund remains undecided.
Brandt fell out of favour towards the end of Lucien Favre’s tenure and now he is bidding to turn things around under Edin Terzic.
Arteta is keen to add some creativity, funds permitting, as he looks to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang firing once again.
The club considered a move for Dominik Szoboszlai before he chose to join RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg.
Szoboszlai’s former Salzburg team-mate Patson Daka has also reportedly emerged as a potential target.
He is represented by former Tottenham striker Freddie Kanoute, who is keen to secure his client a move to the Premier League.
Any potential incomings at the Emirates Stadium are likely to hinge on whether Arteta can clear the decks.
The club are focused on trying to offload the likes of Sokratis, Mesut Ozil, Sead Kolasinac and Callum Chambers this month.
Should that happen, there is every chance technical director Edu could back Arteta in the market.
