Andros Townsend’s Euro 2020 predictions – including the star he expects to shine
Jack Grealish has the potential to become a breakout star in this European Championships.
We’ve already seen so many edge-of-the-seat moments from him in the Premier League and I see this as a tournament where he starts to get the recognition he deserves on the European and world stage. He’s that good.
He and Manchester City’s Phil Foden should start England’s first game against Croatia. In an ideal world. I'd like to see one tricky player and one quick player against what I believe to be an ageing side, just to vary it up.
The way Foden is playing, he has to be one of the first names on the team sheet
The positive is that when it comes to 60 minutes you've got the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. Imagine being out on your feet and having to contend with that lot?
Even in 2018 and we had a good 11 but did we really have that many world class players to change things up if we needed to? I don’t think so.
Sancho, Rashford and Sterling are definitely in that world class category. One or two tired defences are about to understand why over the next few weeks.
Andros Townsend's first 11 for Croatia (4-2-3-1):
Walker Stones White Chilwell
Foden Mount Grealish
Finalists: France and Germany
Dark horses: Scotland
Golden Boot: Lukaku
Household name after the tournament: Grealish. An edge of the seat performer.
