Alexandre Lacazette jokingly fakes to kick Arsenal staff member after losing training game

Arsenal were in a competitive mood in training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash at home to Molde. The Gunners are unsurprisingly buoyant having won a Premier League game at Old Trafford for the first time since 2006 on Sunday. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half penalty got the Gunners’ league campaign back on track following two successive defeats.

Arsenal have won their first two matches of the Europa League group stage, with victories over Rapid Vienna and Dundalk.

But there is no hint that Mikel Arteta’s side are taking things lightly ahead of the visit of Norwegian champions Molde.

The Gunners uploaded a training video on Wednesday from this week in the build up to the match.

The majority of the video is taken up by a three-sides game set up by Arteta to help improve possession with the ball and pressing without it.

The squad wore either black, pink or blue bibs for the activity and seemingly earned a point after completing 10 successful passes with your chosen team-mates and then clearing the ball out of the area to the other end of the pitch.

The blue team included the likes of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, summer signing Gabriel Magalhaes and one of the star men against Manchester United, Mohamed Elneny.

And it was the blues who were leading the way during a break in play with nine points.

Lead sports scientist Tom Allen read the scores aloud to the squad but it did not go down well with one member of the pink team.

Allen stated that the black bibs were in second place on four points, ahead of the pink team on three.

But striker Alexandre Lacazette proved his competitive instinct by reacting in an aggressive, yet joking, way. The Frenchman pretended to kick Allen and confronted him to ask about the scores.

Arteta and the rest of the squad watched on as the light-hearted incident soon blew over and the game continued.

Arsenal have been praised for an improvement in mentality since Arteta became boss last December.

And it was on show for all to see in the high-intensity training video.

Victory over Molde will take Arsenal on the brink of qualification out of their Europa League group.

The Gunners are next in Premier League action this Sunday, when they host Aston Villa (7.15pm).
