Alejandro Garnacho was ousted online by his Man United team-mate Facundo Pellistri over his performances on the online video game EA FC 24.

The global football game is loved worldwide by supporters and players and the United duo evidently love competing against each other as well.

Both gave an insight into their online rivalry when Pellistri responded to a social media post showing off Garnacho’s ultimate team – a feature on the game where players build their own dream squads.

Garnacho’s star-studded line-up boasts a series of ‘icons’ and current players with ratings in the high 80s, but also includes himself – a 77 rated card – on the left-wing of his team.

The south American pair share a good relationship and are often seen training closely alongside one another at United’s Carrington training complex.

However, Pellistri wanted to enjoy some light-hearted fun at his team-mate’s expense when he responded to the leaked picture of Garnacho’s team, stating: ‘and he still can’t win any games’ alongside a laughing face emoji.

Garnacho was quick to reply and hilariously claimed that Pellistri was currently on a losing streak against him, adding: ‘Still 3-0 in games against you, stop spending money it won’t make you good.’

The online exchange offered United fans a rare glimpse of a genuine online interaction between two of the club’s most promising talents.

Both have cemented themselves in Ten Hag’s senior team at United, but have each struggled for consistent minutes so far this season.

Garnacho is regarded as one of United’s brightest academy prospects, scoring five senior goals last season during his breakthrough year, but has flittered in and out of the team.

However, United’s struggles prior to the ongoing international break gave Garnacho a chance to prove himself with the 19-year-old starting both Premier League wins against Fulham and Luton.

Meanwhile, Pellistri is most often used as a right-wing substitute, but has started some key matches this season, including a first Champions League start away against Bayern Munich.
